Choosing your Bridesmaids

That wedding in April Choosing your bridesmaids can be a real challenge for the bride.  Some people love the idea of being your bridesmaid.  For others, though they will not want to let you down, it will be an ordeal.  We can get very caught up in not wanting to offend friends and family.  What really matters at the end of the day, is not who other people think you should invite, nor that Aunt Jane might be affronted,  if you don’t choose her youngest daughter.  Although, you should, of course, always listen to your mother, you need to think about the people who mean most to you in your life.  Then have a quiet word with them.  Tell them about your plans for the wedding.  Be sensitive to how they are feeling about the opportunity.  If it is clear they would prefer not to take on the role, then do the gentle and kind thing and let them off the hook.  But make clear that you are not offended and that you still want them to come and take part in your wedding – include them in some

A Lovely and Decorative Arch for Your Wedding

I know of someone who used this over the cake display at her wedding. It was perfect. The built in lights made it soooo much easier than the arches where you have to string the lights yourself.  It is easy and very affordable.  You can decorate it the way you would like and it will be the set up of the night. Cast a dramatic, magical spell over weddings, receptions, showers, and other upscale events with this enchanting 8-foot-high wedding arch. The stunning unit features simple-to-use light clips and 200 white netting lights that shed a soft glow perfect for candlelit ceremonies, evening dances, or outdoor gatherings under the stars. Even more, its smooth, tubular construction and elegant silhouette unite to create a lovely foundation easily enhanced with tulle, ribbon, flowers, gossamer, ivy, and other special touches (accents not included). Loop it with deep red roses or pure-white lilies for a formal gathering; alternately, weave it with thick, unruly vines to serve as a spec

Something to Cheer you on Sunday - Jackie Evancho - Dream with Me

So far, fans have gotten small tastes of what Jackie Evancho can do, but with the release of Dream With Me her highly-anticipated, first full-length album, they will get their first full serving of her staggering talent. The SYCO/Columbia album reunites the 10-year old singing phenomenon with legendary producer David Foster. Jackie caught the attention of Foster two years ago when she won a regional competition that allowed her to sing as Foster accompanied her on piano. “He thought her voice was extraordinary,” Jackie’s father Michael says. So much so that the 16-time Grammy winner Foster helms Dream With Me and brought some remarkable company with him. The world’s most celebrated female singer Barbra Streisand duets with Jackie on one of Streisand’s signature songs, “West Side Story’s” “Somewhere,” while singing sensation and 2009 “Britain’s Got Talent” contestant Susan Boyle performs the tender “A Mother’s Prayer” with Jackie. Dream with Me features a repertoire of classi

A Plant for Monday - Fairy Candle

Fairy Candle ( black cohosh ,   black bugbane ,   black snakeroot ;   syn. Cimicifuga racemosa ) is a plant of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It is native to eastern North America   from the extreme south of   Ontario   to central   Georgia, and west to   Missouri   and Arkansas. Fairy Candle grows in a variety of woodland   habitats, and is often found in small woodland clearings. The   roots   and   rhizomes   have long been used medicinally by Native Americans. Extracts from these plant materials are thought to possess   analgesic,   sedative, and   anti-inflammatory   properties.  Today, Fairy Candle preparations (tinctures or tablets of dried materials) are used mainly to treat symptoms associated with  the M enopause. Poem for Saturday: The Candle by Katherine Mansfield

Image by jasonstaten via Flickr The Candle By my bed, on a little round table, The Grandmother placed a candle. She gave me three kisses telling me they were three dreams And tucked me in just where I loved being tucked. Then she went out of the room and the door was shut. I lay still, waiting for my three dreams to talk; But they were silent. Suddenly I remembered giving her three kisses back. Perhaps, by mistake, I had given my three little dreams. I sat up in bed. The room grew big, oh, bigger far than a church. The wardrobe, quite by itself, as big as a house. And the jug on the washstand smiled at me: It was not a friendly smile. I looked at the basket-chair where my clothes lay folded: The chair gave a creak as though it were listening for something. Perhaps it was coming alive and going to dress in my clothes. But the awful thing was the window: I could not think what was outside. No tree to be seen, I was sure, No nice little plant or friendly pebbly pat

Love Candle Quotes

So shines a good deed in a naughty world. William Shakespeare Man loves company - even if it is only that of a small burning candle. Georg C. Lichtenberg A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. James Keller I wanted to buy a candle holder, but the store didn't have one. So I got a cake.
